Washoe County residents can get directly involved in running their local elections to ensure they are run effectively, properly, and with integrity by volunteering as a county election worker during primary and/or general election cycles. The role of Election Worker is a critical piece of our election infrastructure. Whether you volunteer for a position as polling location manager, assistant manager, intake specialist, or for another position altogether, your involvement can help add security and professionalism to the management of our local elections. These are temporary, paid positions; and they are well worth your time!

Citizens can also get involved with local elections by visiting various polling locations during early voting and election day to keep watch over the management of polling locations and the behavior of election workers. Be a watchdog, and keep an eye on whether election staff are maintaining compliance to the law as they process and interact with voters. This is an unpaid role, but it is important for county employees and election workers to remember that they are under the watchful surveillance of citizens who care about the rule of law and election integrity. run for Elected office

Elections do little to bring about positive change if no good candidates step up to run for office. It is imperative that principled conservatives, who prioritize truth over power and popularity, apply for office. Candidacy is a committment. One must be ready to invest and work hard to earn the trust of voters through honest and transparent campaigning; and, if elected, one must dedicate themselves to faithfully and righteously govern no matter what challenges or pressures may arise. However, it is critical that we, as conservatives, provide quality candidates for local, state, and national elections if we desire to see quality leadership in government. If you are a citizen who loves his community, desires to make a difference, and has the character and conviction to stand boldly for truth and conservative principles without compromise, please consider running for office!

Apply for Unelected Office

While we as conservatives are wary of unelected government offices and bureaucracy, the reality is that before or after government is streamlined, unelected positions will exist to assist and advise elected officials in confronting and carrying out the enormous tasks for which they are responsible. In these positions, we need more public servants of quality character and principle who will diligently assist, advise, and encourage our elected officials to govern rightly and in line with traditional conservative values for the benefit of our communities. Further, we need public servants who, in their unelected roles, will refuse the temptation to expand bureaucratic power beyond its proper scope and authority on principle. In Nevada and Washoe County, there are many boards and commissions for which citizens may apply. Please considering filling one of these positions and taking your part in promoting good governance!
